#052: Best of 2023

So many things happened in 2023. Life and work taking turns for the better and keeping me extremely busy, especially in the last quarter of the year. Many things to be thankful for.

It was nice to get out to photograph the streets in the early part of the year without knowing how hectic it was going to get towards the end. I counted 21 sessions of street photography for the year. Which wasn’t as much as I’d hoped it would be when the year started. It was also the year that the Fujifilm X100S captured its last photo. Both the Olympus E-M1 and the X100S are now non-functioning and I remain with the Fujifilm XF10 that was gifted to me.

My final shot with the X100S that I will publish.

I am editing through my 10 years of photos with the X100S and will put that into a blog post soon, my favourite shots with that camera; the camera that made me enjoy photographing the streets. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it held up over ten years. It had served me well and it was my go-to camera when it came to street photography. And let’s see if the rumours of the new Fujifilm X100 series camera that’s supposed to come out this year are true, and if I end up getting that one.

In the meantime, below are my “best” of the lot from a much smaller sample of images I have taken throughout 2023. With so few sessions in 2023, it was hard to capture what I would consider my favourite kind of street photograph. That being said, there are a few below that I was pleased to capture. And a big thanks to all the friends who I met up with during the year on the streets. Hoping to see you all again soon, with or without a camera.

Hope you like the photos below as much as I enjoyed finding them on the streets I walked.

Let’s see if 2024 brings me good fortune on the streets and a progression in my photographic journey.

Cheers.
