AMIR SHARIFF: Photography

Hi there, my name is Amir Shariff. I’m a photographer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, focusing primarily on street, travel, and documentary photography.

This website is a personal archive; part visual diary, part ongoing study of the everyday. My work centres around observation: how people move and interact through cities, how light cuts across familiar spaces, and how small, seemingly insignificant moments can quietly speak volumes. I’ve always been drawn to that intersection between stillness and motion, where a photograph doesn’t shout, but lingers.

I shoot intuitively. Sometimes with purpose, other times on impulse and often while walking with no real destination. A camera has been a near-constant companion over the years, not as a badge of identity, but as a tool to pause time, even if just for a split second. Whether I’m documenting the streets of Kuala Lumpur, wandering through markets abroad, or stealing a quiet moment during a family holiday, the goal is the same: to capture the feeling of being there.

This isn't about chasing trends or algorithms. It's about building a body of work that reflects how I see the world — imperfect, fleeting, sometimes humorous, and always layered with quiet complexity.

Thanks for taking the time to visit. The images here are just a glimpse into that ongoing process — one frame at a time.
