#036: My Favourite Street Photographs of 2019

My favorite street photos from 2019.

As an annual post here at my blog (although rather late this year - as i try and put this out before the end of January), I’m posting some of my favourite street photographs that I’ve taken this past year in 2019. I didn’t get to go out and about as much as I’d like to last year, as many different and great life-changing things were happening throughout the year that kept my photograph at bay.

With all these good things happening, I had less time to hit the streets with my camera. Also, in the first half of the year, I was concentrating more on my “Ikat Tepi” series (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), that when I was on the streets, I was looking out for those photos rather than the usual street stuff.

This past year has also been my first full year back in Kuala Lumpur after the stay in London. I did get a few short trips here and there, and some of those trip photos have ended up on this list. I had a good trip to Bangkok early in the year and I got to meet Bangkok native Ramy Narula. It was great to meet him and to sit down over coffee to chat about street photography, life and everything in between.

I didn’t get many keepers this year. Definitely due to the lack of time out on the streets. “The less you shoot, the less you get”… Did someone famous say that? I don’t know, but that’s how it been for me this past year. In previous years I had to drop a lot of shots that I liked to get down to my ultimate “favourite list”, so many good ones that I had to leave off the table. Its always been a tough lesson in learning to edit my shots.

This year however… I basically had just this collection and I barely had any others that would have made it. I’m even possibly adding in some shots here, that in any other previous year, I would not have put them on my top list. But this is what it has come down to.

So, I hope you like them. It’s a little bit of everything from and around the streets. Photos from here and there throughout 2019.

Lets see what the year 2020 brings for me.

Cheers everyone.
